Mr. Chandel is currently the President and CHRO, Tata Motors, India's largest Automotive Company. He moved to Tata Motors in 2014, from another Tata Group Company, Tata AutoComp Systems where he was the Group CHRO, Tata AutoComp Systems from 2005 to 2014. At Tata Motors, as part of Executive Committee, he has actively driven transformation program thru various strategic growth initiatives of the company right from the Re-engineering and Rejuvenating the Organisation thru Reorganisation that's unparalleled in Corporate India to the next gen HR practices which are seen as trendsetters and industry benchmarks eg. the strategic tie ups with top Engineering & B-Schools in India, to build a strong pipeline of engineering & Managerial talent for the Industry. He set up 4 focussed Academies to build top class Product, Customer, Operations & Management Leadership talent. Has also set-up, in every Tata Motors' Unit, Skill Development Centres, in collaboration with ASDC, where over 10,000 trainees are trained each year. He has been responsible for driving the Organisation Effectiveness Program, emanating from Company's long-term strategy that included restructuring, reorganisation & rejuvenation exercise. It included flattening of hierarchy to just 5 Management levels, Leadership Assessment of Mid & Sr Management levels, revamped the performance planning & review, career & succession planning etc. - all driven towards making the organisation agile and lean, fighting machine to meet company's goal of being amongst the top 3 players in Commercial vehicles worldwide and top 3 passenger car business in India.

Prior to joining Tata Group, he worked with Siemens in India, Germany and USA for almost 13 years. He deeply believes in building a strong ecosystem incl working closely with key stakeholders especially the dealers & suppliers. He was honoured with Leader of the Year award in 1997 by LMI Inc. USA. Mr. Chandel loves photography, hiking & reading.
